Brussels, 14 October 2015 – The funds advised by Argos Wityu have acquired, together with the newly promoted management team, the Belgium based engineering group Gantrex. The transaction was the result of a complex process involving a simultaneous carve-out of other business activities.

Founded in 1971 by the Haegelsteen family and having its headquarters in Nivelles (Belgium), Gantrex is the global market leader in production, distribution, installation and maintenance of high quality crane rail fastening systems. Its products are used in many different applications and end-markets including amongst others ports, shipyards, railway depots and heavy industries. Gantrex offers its products and services across the world and operates three production sites in Belgium, Canada and China. The group realized a turnover of €70m in 2014 and employs 250 people globally.

With the acquisition of Gantrex from the Haegelsteen family a new, internally promoted, management team has been installed. This team, led by Maarten Impens as CEO, will further develop new products, services and new regions while maintaining Gantrex’ outstanding reputation in the market.

Maarten Impens, CEO Gantrex: “We are excited to write a new chapter in the history of Gantrex alongside Argos Wityu, who during the process immediately understood the strengths of Gantrex as a worldwide market leader in the niche market in which we operate. Gantrex has a strong team of ambitious and experienced employees, who have collectively embraced the challenge to further develop our global activity on the strong foundations which we have the previous management to thank for. To say there is an atmosphere of excitement would be an understatement.”

Gilles Mougenot, president Argos Wityu Partners: “It is impressive to see how the current management and staff have created a global market leading engineering company that has an excellent reputation amongst its clients. We are excited to commence this journey together with a young and ambitious management team. They have the knowledge, vision and commitment to take Gantrex to a next level and we are happy to support them in doing so.”
