Bourgtheroulde, March 14th, 2019 – Maison Berger Paris today announced the acquisition of Bescent, a start-up company from Nantes, France, known for its technological innovation, the Sensorwake olfactory alarm clock. Sold in Europe and in Asia, this innovative concept, which offers the consumer a unique, multi-sensory wake-up experience, has received many prizes, including the prestigious Google Science Fair in 2014.

“Maison Berger Paris and Sensorwake are two French brands which operate on the home fragrance market and share the same priority: to offer a product range with healthy diffusion methods. This shared identity is the substance of this alliance between a renowned, century-old French company and an innovative, digital native French Tech start-up. The objective is to enhance our range of products on the indoor fragrance market by combining our complementary areas of expertise”, states Olivier Sillion, CEO of Maison Berger Paris.

Sensorwake employees and I are delighted to join a group known all over the world for its technologies and which asserts the values of quality, sophistication and excellence. It will provide us with the means to achieve our ambitions. In other words, to accelerate perfume innovations and make
them accessible all over the world
”, comments Guillaume Rolland, founder of Bescent and inventor of Sensorwake©.

This merger confirms the development drive of the Normandy-based company in both France and internationally by offering a wider product range and more technological products. Generating turnover of nearly €50 million, of which 75% in exports, Maison Berger Paris is today a 100% French company which embodies the “made in France” label so highly sought-after beyond our borders.

With 120 years of history and presence in over 50 countries, Maison Berger Paris has strong ambitions and has enjoyed increased resources since the investment company, Argos Wityu, acquired a stake in the capital in September 2017. Among the company’s strategic focuses are the diversification of its range, reinforcement of R&D and digitalisation of the brand to attract new customers and capture new markets.
