Can you introduce yourself in a few words? Your age, your family situation and the country you live in?
I am 55 years old, single again and I have no children. I live in Germany, but was born in Croatia, where I also spent my childhood.
Tell us about your career and how you joined Argos.
In my more than 30-year professional career, I have been able to work for various employers from different sectors. I like to exchange ideas with colleagues, and this is how I have received recommendations for new positions. This is also how I came to Argos.
Is this the path you thought you would take when you started your studies?
No, but it was already apparent during my training that I enjoyed helping others and making sure that everything was in the right place at the right time. I found my calling in assistance.
The world of private equity has changed a lot in recent years. What is your definition of PE? How do you see it?
For me, private equity means dealing with the values of others in a spirit of trust.
The feeling that guides you the most in your daily life?
It’s always about people, I’m happy to be able to contribute to the overall success.
What encounter - or moment - stands out in your time at Argos?
My journey at Argos has so far been short: only one year. The cohesion of our small team in Frankfurt always impresses me.
Some say we are the average of the people we meet. What do you think?
We feel good among people who think and act like we do. This certainly also applies to the choice of our professional environment. My colleagues are very well trained for what they do. They bear responsibility, not just for themselves, and they keep an eye on people, even when unpleasant decisions have to be made. They inspire me to deliver quality work, to take responsibility and never lose sight of the human aspect.
Is there a person you admire, who inspires you on a daily basis? (e.g. a writer, artist, politician, etc.)
It always impresses me how people who don’t know each other help each other. I encounter this again and again on the outside and especially inside Argos.
How do you find balance in your life as a whole?
Currently I live alone, so I can relax after work, especially when cooking. I usually visit my mother at weekends. She is a widow but very smart and fit. We like to talk, watch films, go for walks and travel together. So the weekend is like a short vacation for me, especially because I’m being cooked for.
Outside of your job, what are your passions or commitments?
I enjoy travelling, skiing (I’m not very good at it, but I love the snow) and swimming. I like food in general, so restaurants are a big temptation for me. I like arranging and decorating places, maybe that’s my true and hidden passion. I’ve already lost friends’ apartments and hotel rooms here. One zone is taboo: my mother’s apartment. She finally put here foot down after looking for things every Monday.
“For me, private equity means dealing with the values of others in a spirit of trust.”
How do you see yourself in 10 years?
I should be retired, but I hope to have a head full of plans and, of course, good health.
Do you have a special place that reflects who you are, that inspires you and contributes to your balance?
I feel very comfortable in snow-covered mountains, with a clear sky and fresh air. That’s where I can think clearly.
In another life, you would be... ?
A singer, but musical talent is in no way present in my life yet, not even an atom’s worth.
