GROUP HEAD OF CORPORATE FINANCIAL CONTROLLING
Can you introduce yourself in a few words? Your age, your family situation and the country you live in?
I’m 34 years old, and I live in France.
Tell us about your career and how you joined Argos?
I worked for several years in auditing and consulting for the finance departments of listed and unlisted companies. After that, I was in charge of finance for a major group’s portfolio of subsidiaries, before joining the realm of private equity. I was Group Financial Controller of an international PE/VC fund for several years.
Is this the path you thought you would take when you started your studies?
Yes and no. I was fascinated by corporate strategy, and I thought I would go into consulting. In the end, I think you can have a strategic approach to what you do even if it’s not your profession.
The world of private equity has changed a lot in recent years. What is your definition of PE? How do you see it?
Private equity creates value alongside SMEs, which are an essential part of the economic fabric of the countries in which they operate.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
What gets me up in the morning is the opportunity to learn something new. That’s the ability for me to feel as though I am newly alive in this world by refreshing my perspective on something I haven’t seen before. I also want to make a difference in my community, both professionally and personally: I want my future kids to know that achieving your dream is more than possible and that I’d support them as they chased their own.
You interact daily with managers. Is there an entrepreneur you admire in the market?
It’s hard not to admire someone like Ray Dalio. He is honest about his goals, his weaknesses, but also honest about how you can become better yourself and win in business or in life. I love entrepreneurs that are honest and ethical and that also give back in spades when it comes to advice about their success. I also really admire Warren Buffet, he has been around and has been successful for decades with his simple philosophy of stick with the basics, don’t buy companies you don’t understand. Lastly, it is impossible not to mention, Henry Kravis. He is a pioneer of the private equity industry and I strongly admire pioneers, whatever the field concerned. This last reason is probably why I chose to work with Argos Wityu that played an important role in the shapping of the then emerging industry in Europe.
How do you find balance in your life as a whole?
I’m fundamentally passionate about everything I do, both professionally and personally. Once I’m on to a subject I often don’t see the time go by. So my schedule is as specific as possible, and I literally set alarms to organise my time.
Outside of your job, what are your passions or commitments?
I appreciate the time I spend with my family as well as new experiences. A new experience could be a trip to some far corner of the world, discovering a new food with an unusual taste or learning something about the history of France just down the street.
