Can you introduce yourself in a few words? Your age, your family situation and the country you live in?

Jacqui

I am married with 2 children, aged 17 and 19, I live in France and have British and French citizenship.

Tell us about your career and how you joined Argos.

Jacqui

I joined Argos in October 2019 from Cathay Capital, another Paris-based private equity firm. Prior to that I worked for over 20 years in private equity firms and real estate funds, including 3i plc & AXA Investment Managers. I chose to join Argos Wityu for its multicultural feel and the fit with the people I met during the recruitment process.

Is this the path you thought you would take when you started your studies?

Jacqui

Not at all, but I was a late developer! And in the UK you can change career path very easily, which makes seizing opportunities and choosing a new direction much easier.

The world of private equity has changed a lot in recent years. What is your definition of PE? How do you see it?

Jacqui

For me private equity is a hugely important catalyst for business and economic growth, with the challenge for the GP being to add value and help the management build a stronger company/group. We have a huge responsibility to our investors to invest their money wisely, whilst respecting ESG criteria, and provide them with high quality reporting on progress and this informs everything we do.

What is the feeling that guides you most in your daily life?

Jacqui

For me it’s important to be stimulated and continue learning every day and the variety of the challenges my job at Argos offers means I can do that. I also enjoy working in a multicultural environment.

What encounter - or moment - stands out in your time at Argos?

Jacqui

Working closely with the managing partners but also with my team, who are a special group of people.

Some say we are the average of the people we meet. What do you think? What do you think?

Jacqui

I like to surround myself with positive people who inspire me. Over the years I’ve worked with some highly intelligent people in private equity and learnt from all of them.

Is there a person you admire, who inspires you on a daily basis (e.g. a writer, artist, politician, etc.)?

Jacqui

I am inspired by colleagues and friends on a daily basis. The founder of the charity I work with, Lindsey Nefesh-Clarke, is someone I especially admire, but I am always being surprised and amazed by the people I meet.

How do you find balance in your life as a whole?

Jacqui

I have to juggle many things as a CFO, wife and mother. I love spending time with my family and friends, walking the dog, running, doing yoga and cooking. Being outside in nature is essential to me.

Outside of your job, what are your passions or commitments?

Jacqui

I try to find time for sport at the weekend – running in the forest is my favourite right now. I am also on the board of a Paris charity helping deprived women and girls, many of whom have been victims of violence, to earn a living – the Women’s Worldwide Web (W4). I am also an avid reader and music lover.

How do you see yourself in 10 years?

Jacqui

Happy, healthy and still intellectually curious.

Do you have a special place that reflects who you are, that inspires you and contributes to your balance?

Jacqui

The forest near my home where I go running with my friends and our dogs or the seaside near where I grew up. I need to spend a lot of my spare time outdoors in nature.

In another life, you would be... ?

Jacqui

A writer or photographer.
