Schenk Tanktransport, a company supported by Argos Wityu, acquires Suttons Tankers Ltd.

  • This is a transformative acquisition for Schenk, which sees its revenues increase by 50%.

  • The integration of Suttons further strengthens the position of Schenk in Northwest Europe as the market leader in the transport of highly demanding liquid and gas products.

Schenk Tanktransport, one of the leading tank transport companies in Northwest Europe, announces the acquisition of Suttons Tankers, an English road tanker logistics provider. This acquisition holds significant strategic importance for Schenk, as it expands the company’s European footprint and further reinforces its service offering.

With this acquisition, Schenk increases its revenues and employees by almost 50% reaching 440M€ and 2,600 employees. It operates a fleet of more than 1,450 tractor units, 1,300 owned trailers and 1,000 tank containers.

Over the past two years, Argos Wityu has supported Schenk with a successful shareholder and management transition for this longstanding family-owned Dutch company. The focus has now shifted to further strengthening topline growth, amongst others via an international buy-and-build strategy. “This acquisition is part of Schenk’s plan to expand into new geographic markets and leverage the local platform and Schenk’s experience to grow into a leading position in those new markets as well. In reverse, Suttons Tankers’ experience in new product segments also offers opportunities in our existing markets.” explains Maarten Meijssen, Partner at Argos Wityu.

Suttons Tankers has a leading position in road tanker transport in the UK. This 100-year-old family-owned company is recognized for its strong heritage and good reputation and therefore fits well with Schenk’s core values. Suttons Tankers serves blue chip clients across the UK transporting different types of chemicals, gasses, fuels, liquid waste and powders. Suttons Tankers’ strong network in the UK offers a platform for accelerated growth by integrating Schenk’s existing client portfolio and intermodal activities from and to the UK.

“The acquisition of Suttons Tankers is a major step for us. We are now positioned as front runners in the Pan European market of specialized tank transport. This will allow us to provide increased value to our customers.” said Marcel Claessen, CEO of Schenk Tanktransport.
