Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
Audrey
My name is Audrey De Vreese. I was born and raised in Ghent, Belgium but recently moved with my husband to Kortrijk, a smaller city in West Flanders.
Tell us about your career and how you joined Argos?
Audrey
After I graduated from the University of Leuven with a degree in Applied Economics, I decided to do an additional master’s in financial management at the Vlerick Business School. I started my career in M&A, at an investment banking boutique firm in Brussels. Afterwards, I gained some experience in a PE firm focused on fund-of-fund investing. However, I missed the direct contact with portfolio companies and the impact on them, so I decided to move to a PE firm specialised in direct investing. When I met the Argos team, I felt an immediate fit culturally and was convinced of the learning opportunities ahead.
Is this the path you thought you would take when you started your studies?
Audrey
The world of private equity has changed a lot in recent years. What is your definition of PE? How do you see it?
Audrey
In my (so far limited) experience in this sector, I see PE firms as more than a provider of capital. We need to be a hands-on and close partner to the businesses to contribute to their growth trajectory, a solution provider for questions and issues and a sounding board for strategic projects so we can unlock the potential value of the company together with the management.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Audrey
To describe yourself further: It is said that we are the average of the people we meet. Who do you think they are and how do they influence you?
Audrey
In a more general way, is there a person you admire, who inspires you on a daily basis? (e.g. writer, artist, politician, etc.)
Audrey
How do you find balance in your life as a whole?
Audrey
” I see PE firms as more than a provider of capital. We need to be a hands-on and close partner to the businesses to contribute to their growth trajectory“
Outside of your job, what are your passions or commitments?
