Can you introduce yourself in a few words? Your age, your family situation and the country you live in?

Tell us about your career and how you joined Argos?
Marie
I arrived in France from South Africa 13 years ago and took the first job I got: a receptionist in a fund management firm. I soon moved to an assistant role within the fund management team and discovered a whole new world: one of passion and performance. The fund management industry was my first taste of the French job market, and I worked in the company for 8 years.
I was seated on the fund management floor and it was incredible to see the teams take important decisions with the stroke of a coloured key on their Bloomberg keyboard. I then moved on to the luxury world of wines and spirits, where I spent 4.5 years. I had two roles in the company: one as executive assistant to an Executive Committee member and another one within the creative studio and research teams.
Being the executive assistant to an Executive Committee Management Committee member allowed me a vast and high-level overview of the company, regions, Maisons and markets. The role within the research team brought me so much closer to our consumers and their ways of thinking, while that within the creative studio was so diverse and taught me so much: budget management, building management, people management. I am now coming back to my first love: finance.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

I love to learn. I am incredibly lucky to work so closely with the partners and with my manager, all of whom are incredibly knowledgeable in the private equity sector and eager to share their knowledge. I learn something new every day and it’s such a driving force for me.
What encounter - or moment - has marked your journey at Argos?
